Never a missing dependency
Chrome, wkhtmltopdf and weasyprint are used when they're installed; a renderer built into Mel is always there underneath as the floor.
Reads a PDF back
Attach a PDF or a photo to your message and Mel reads what's in it. The picker only offers a PDF on a model that can actually read one.
A normal file, where you said
Mel saves it into the folder you're working in and tells you the path. Mail it, print it, drop it in a shared drive — it's just a PDF.

The PDF always renders.
Mel tries the best renderer installed on your machine — a Chrome-family browser, then wkhtmltopdf, then weasyprint — and if none of them is there, it falls back to a renderer built into Mel itself. A Safari-only Mac or a Firefox-only Linux machine gets the same document as everyone else.
